Glamour magazines and TV programmes highlight the fantastic impact dental treatments can have on our appearances. That's why we go the extra mile to spend time discussion all the options available to you, to make sure that your dental treatment leaves you feeling good and looking great!
Cosmetic dentistry can address many problems. Examples are tooth coloured fillings and crowns instead of metal ones, tooth whitening to combat stains, implants to replace missing teeth and cosmetic veneers which plump out cheeks and lips for a fuller appearance.
Regular attendance to see your Dentist and Hygienist helps us to improve and maintain your oral health, and several studies have shown that the prevention of gum disease is linked to general health and well-being. Research shows that bacteria from gum infections enters the bloodstream and can cause inflammation to blood vessels, the heart and other organs.
When the body detects inflammation a protein called C-reactive protein (CRP) is released into the blood. Doctors use CRP levels as an indication of whether you’re fighting inflammation, even if you’re unaware of it.
There is also clear evidence within our practice that patients who attend regular examination and hygiene appointments maintain better control of gum inflammation and bleeding, and require less treatment overall. That's why we ask all patients to pre-book their next appointments before they leave.
Our hygienists work in partnership with you to keep you on track for healthy beautiful smiles by providing regular professional cleaning to support your home care routine. Difficult to reach areas are cleaned carefully to remove tartar and plaque deposits, leaving your mouth fresh and clean, and keeping bad breath away. All visible stains are removed and your teeth will then get a final polish using a high gloss diamond paste. Finally you will be given personalised advice on the best aids to use and your gum health will be monitored at each visit.
Appointments last between 45 and 60 minutes. Shorter appointments costing £56 are reserved for regular patients who need lighter support because they have excellent home care routines.

Teeth whitening is an effective and non-invasive way of lightening teeth to their natural colour without removing any tooth surface. Tooth whitening works by removing stains that tend to build up on teeth, especially those caused by tea, coffee, red wine, tobacco or spicy foods, and is one of many treatments at our disposable to lift your smile.
How does this work? Whitening can be likened to a facial for teeth. When placed in close proximity to the teeth, the whitening agent helps to unlock pores in teeth so that stains are gently removed, leaving teeth cleaner and brighter. Whiter teeth can rejuvenate your smile, and the effects can last for quite some time, with the right care.
You need a check-up first! Prior to whitening, it is important to have a dental check-up to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy and to confirm that whitening is a suitable option for you. Although teeth themselves whiten well, any fillings or crowns will remain the same colour and may need replacing to match the new lighter colour of your teeth. Tooth whitening may also be discussed prior to veneers, crowns or bridges, to confirm that you are happy with the final colour of all the teeth you show when you smile

Dental implantsprovided at Smile Impressions offer a permanent alternative to some of the difficulties of dentures. Dentures, especially on the lower jaw, are prone to slipping and sliding, which can make chewing and speaking a difficult and potentially embarrassing chore. Because they utilise titanium anchors that are fused with the jawbone (replicating the natural root structure of a tooth), dental implants are more secure and often more comfortable than removable dentures while looking and feeling like real teeth.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Dental implants function in exactly the same way as natural teeth.
Implants look like natural teeth.
Implants provide anchorage for dentures, crowns and bridges; this makes the restorations more stable and improves their performance.
Dental implants prevent bone loss, which helps to preserve the facial characteristics.
Dental implants are a long-term solution. If cared for properly they can last a lifetime.
Healthy teeth will not be damaged or affected by dental implants.
Dentures anchored by implants do not affect speech.
